Hurricanes Blank Hawks

The Hawks (5-2-2) laid a goose egg on the scoreboard as Cam Ward stopped 30 shots and the Hurricanes (4-3-3) defeated the Blackhawks 3-0 in Raleigh, NC.  The Canes frustrated the Hawks who took 5 penalties and also had a penalty shot called against them.  The Hawks penalty killers were perfect again and Crawford stopped Eric Staal’s penalty shot attempt in the second but it was not enough as the Hawks offense could not find a way to solve Ward.  Jonathan Toews was stopped on a clean breakaway, and the Hawks put up another goose egg on the power play going 0-3 on the evening.  Brett Sutter scored out of the box, and Brent and Tlusty also tallied for the Canes.  Corey Crawford stopped 30 of 33 shots on the evening.  The Hawks flew home after the game for a date with the Columbus Blue Jackets (1-8-1) on Saturday night at United Center.
