Hawks @ Long Island Preview 12/08/11

The Chicago Blackhawks (16-8-4) will skate on Long Island tonight when they take on the New York Islanders (9-11-5) at the crumbling Nassau Coliseum.  It will be the second and final meeting of the season and the second meeting in a week.  The Hawks beat the Islanders 5-4 in a shootout last Friday at United Center.  Ben Smith, Patrick Sharp, Andrew Brunette, and Jonathan Toews all scored for Chicago and Toews scored the only goal in the shootout to give the Hawks the win.  Kyle Okposo, Matt Moulson, Pa Parenteau, and Nino Niederreiter all tallied for the Islanders.  The Hawks have not played on the Island since the Cup season, a game they lost 5-3.  Jonathan Toews comes in on fire for the Hawks leading the team with 17 goals and 32 points.  Toews is currently tied for the NHL lead in goals, and is tied for third in points behind Phil Kessel (35) of the Maple Leafs and Daniel Sedin (33) of the hated Canucks.  The Hawks come in 8-6-1 on the road and the Isles have a 6-6-2 record on home ice.  Chicago is coming off a roller coaster 4-3 shootout loss to the Coyotes on Monday night that saw them fall behind early 3-0 and roar back to tie the game before falling in the shootout.  Ray Emery replaced Corey Crawford after the third goal.  Ray Emery will get the start in goal for the Hawks in place of the struggling Corey Crawford who has been pulled twice in the last three games.
