Islanders @ Blackhawks Preview

The Chicago Blackhawks (14-8-3) will take on the lowly New York Islanders (7-11-4) on Friday night at United Center.  The Hawks come in off a stinker of a loss on Tuesday night against the Phoenix Coyotes in a game in which they looked out of gas for most of the game following the 6 game road trip and lost 4-1.  Chicago looks to rebound against an Islander team that is just 2-5-2 on the road and are the second worst team in the league.  The Hawks come in 7-2-2 on home ice.  This will be the first of two meetings this month between the Hawks and Islanders.  Chicago won the only meeting last year with a 5-0 Corey Crawford shutout victory at United Center.  Crawford stopped all 29 shots he faced and Marian Hossa had a 3 point night.  Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Patrick Kane, and Dave Bolland all tallied for the Hawks.  John Tavares comes in tied for the team lead in goals with 8 for the Islanders.  Winger Matt Moulson also has 8.

Blackhawks Captain Serious Jonathan Toews, who was recently named the National Hockey League’s 2nd star for November, looks to build off his hot November that saw him put up 9 goals and 9 assists for 18 points including a career high 5 point night against the Anaheim Ducks. He had three multi-goal games and five multi-point games for November.  Chicago will be looking to get off to a fast start in December following a mediocre 7-6-1 effort in the month of November.  What better team to open the month against than the struggling Islanders.  Now the Hawks just have to take advantage.
