Hawks @ Ducks Circus Trip Game 5 Preview

The Chicago Blackhawks (12-7-3) will limp into Anaheim on Friday afternoon to battle the Ducks (6-11-4).  The Hawks are just 1-3-0 on the Circus Trip and have lost 3 in a row.  The Hawks played well on Wednesday night in San Jose but couldn’t beat former goalie Antti Niemi who stooped all 34 shots he faced in a 1-0 Sharks win.  The Hawks played a great defensive game and were good on the penalty kill but allowed a fluke power play goal against off a face off win that deflected off two Hawks players and in for the only goal in the game.  The Hawks will be looking for more of the same on the defensive end after allowing 14 goals in two games prior to the game in San Jose.  The power play struggled again against the Sharks and was 0-4 on the night.  The Hawks really need to get going on the power play if they are going to compete against the league’s elite teams.  This will be the second of four meetings on the year with the Ducks.  The Hawks beat Anaheim 3-2 in a shootout in October at United Center.  Patrick Kane netted the shootout winner.  The Hawks went 1-1-0 in Anaheim last season including a 4-1 win during the Circus Trip.  Teemu Selanne leads the Ducks with 19 points and Corey Perry comes in with the lead in goals with 8.  The Ducks come in losers of 3 in a row.
